Reinventing Geospatial reinvents volunteering at FACETS’ Hypothermia Prevention Centers

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc.’s (RGi’s®) unique volunteer efforts were recently featured in an article by FACETS, a non-profit organization that helps people impacted by poverty throughout Fairfax County, VA.

For the past two years, RGi has supported the FACETS Hypothermia Prevention and Response Program, which provides shelter for those in need during winter months. Early on, the RGi team saw an opportunity to add an educational element to the program and quickly began offering shelter guests instruction in basic computer skills and resume development. RGi purchased laptops to support the effort and created a custom curriculum that RGi’s volunteers teach to shelter guests.

“I love that FACETS helps people with the immediate effects of poverty as well as working towards a long-term solution,” said Mary Carome, Software Engineer at RGi. “I hope that by coming to the Hypothermia Clinics and providing computer training and resume help we are giving our guests skills that will help them today and for the rest of their life.”

A big thanks to all the RGi volunteers who help create an Immediate Impact™ for those in need!

RGi supports education through the Hypothermia Prevention and Response Program

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) recently joined forces with the Hypothermia Prevention and Response Program to offer shelter guests a unique learning opportunity. With RGi’s help, the program not only provides shelter during cold winter months, but now offers basic computer skills training and resume development to advance their skills or search for new roles. To support this educational effort, RGi purchased several laptops and developed a standard curriculum for volunteers as they work with shelter guests.

Thanks to all of our RGi volunteers for getting involved and making a difference in our community!
